Going off-island for lunch

The term "off island" is commonly used here to indicate that someone or something is not in St. Croix. Well, guess what I did on my lunch break today? This tiny little island, in the harbour of Christiansted is home to just one hotel - it is considered a protected island because it is home to an endangered lizard, hence no doggies allowed. You have to get on a little boat that shuttles back and forth from the mainland - or swim - in order to get over to the island.
A friend of mine, also named Michelle, owns and run the water sports center here, and so today I decided to take an hour lunchbreak, pack a picnic and meet her out there between customers. A really nice opportunity to see St. Crox from a different angle, soak up some Vitamin D and get away from the screen.
